If Only
1 min readDec 15, 2019
Tired eyes on a winter’s eve
Contemplating loneliness
Awaiting timid fantasy
That’s just me I guess
~
I always seemed too quick to share
And frightened off those who would be
The one to whom I could confess
The one in whom I could believe
~
I imagine in my bedding
Long-since lovers who’ve forgotten me
Then close my eyes against the night
And let “if only” conquer me
